Centralia’s first dog park is open

They say every dog has its day. Now, every dog in Centralia has its own park as well.

Centralia celebrated the grand opening of its new 1-acre dog park at the southeast corner of Fort Borst Park Saturday afternoon. About 25 people, and close to as many canines, were on hand for a short ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by the opening of the gates. Mari Jo Qualey, a 30-year-old former Centralia resident credited with bringing the venue to fruition, was hailed by city officials as the driving force behind the project.
